A Guided Hunt, Unguided Hunt or combo “Fish and Hunt” with registered Alaska Hunting Guide Rocky McElveen can make you one of the few and fortunate ones able to reach the remote areas that are home to Moose, Caribou, Black Bear, Brown Bear, Grizzly Bear, and Alaskan Timber Wolf. Using high-powered planes, our Cessna 206 and Super Cub with tundra tires or floats, we are able to track and position the select few who truly want Alaska trophy hunting. Our spike camps are carefully scouted and selected to produce quality Alaskan hunts. Hunting in the Alaska Wilderness is only the beginning of your Alaskan Adventure.

For those who are unable to hunt the mountains or hills, we feature boat or raft trips down remote rivers that allow those who want a great hunting adventure and opportunity without the strenuous physical requirements of a hill or mountain hunt.

One of our raft trips with MLB Mike Moore produced a possible world record interior grizzly. Rafting or floating down these untouched rivers is a remarkable way to surprise game along the river banks

About Alaskan-Adventures

From the Owner. . . .

”I have been part of Alaska since 1956. Many incredible changes have taken place since the 1950’s. I want to take you back to the way it was when I was a young man growing up in wild Alaska. Hunt the way the natives hunt! Fish in waters where the fish have never seen a lure! Challenge yourself to a guided hunting or fishing excursion at rates that make sense. This lodge is perfect for any outdoorsman!”

In 1984, Sharon and I set out to provide fishing and hunting trips to refresh and restore Busy Executives. Our first base of operation was a 200 acre camp, my parents helped establish in 1960. We were located in the town of Soldotna on the Kenai Peninsula. We floated past McDonald’s and battled thousands of other fishermen. On high fish days there could be up to 8,000 fishermen per day on the Kenai River!)

Finally, we moved to the remote Holitna River. (Hint…Caveat_emptor Buyer beware if you are looking at a crowded Kenai River trip offer!)

THE HOLITNA RIVER LODGE is located 238 miles SW of Anchorage in the core of Alaska bush country and is on a spectacular waterway with hundreds of miles of river to fish and hunt from. These river systems contains more species of Alaska sports fish and salmon than almost any other system in Alaska.

We stage our fishing and hunting fishingadventures from our Holitna River Lodge. We are strategically located in the “Heart” of Alaska. We have a 2,300 foot runway for our Cessna 206 and our Super Cub, 3 duplex cabins, 4 private cabins, 20 boats, a beautiful garden and a big “Alaskan” main lodge. Our cooks, pilots and guides continue to give you that warm Alaskan hospitality! We are about as remote as you can get. The fishing is outrageous! Many times we go all week on our river system and do not see another boat. Alaskan Sportfishing Heaven! Your best bet isthe fish/hunt combo packages!! Fishing in Alaska the way it should be done. Rocky and Sharon want to give you that warm Alaskan welcome like only a real sourdough can do!

DIY Hunts

Unguided Moose, Caribou, or Black Bear hunting combined with excellent fishing is staged from either our Holitna Lodge or from one of our registered field camps. The great advantage of our locations is a well stocked private remote lodge in heavily populated game areas. You can run rivers for hundreds of miles in unbelievable game country. Click here to see all the varieties of animals and details about each that saturate our area. We also offer Unguided Hunting and Fishing combo packages.

We provide all tents (guide tents) and sleeping bags (although to be honest, I suggest for personal comfort you bring your own sleeping bag). We provide pads, food, cooking utensils, stoves, backpacks, & all of your necessary equipment for a successful safe trophy hunt.

We are well equipped to launch boats and planes from our private air strips at our primary lodge. We have a dozen river boats and well maintained motors for those who enjoy the Alaskan river hunt. When the river hunting is hot, there is almost no more exciting hunt, and the pack is usually only a few feet!! Big game however are unpredictable. That is why we have a well maintained landing strip at our lodge allowing us to move you quickly with our Super Cubs to mou
ntain or interior hunting. If you book a river hunt and for any reason decide that you want to go on a fly out to a spike camp we have devised a program to assist you.

Raft Trip 1:

(Class 4: Advanced Adventure. This Includes avoiding obstacles and tight turns. )
The Ho-Ho River flows 184 miles from Whitefish Lake and merges with the Holitna River 4 miles from our main lodge. We will land you on the upper Ho-Ho and raft you back down to the main lodge. These rivers have clear, rocky bottoms and are very remote. The rivers are full of Kings, Chums, Silvers, Charr, Greyling, Pike, and Sheefish. There is an abundance of wildlife everywhere you go!

Raft Trip 2:

(Class 3: Intermediate Adventure. This is more Family Friendly.)
The Holitna River flows from the Shotgun Hills. The smaller rivers, such as the Chukowam, and the Kogrukluk, meet 100 miles from our main lodge. The native name for the headwaters of the mighty Holitna River is the Kashegolok. There are two options for Raft Trip #2. The First available option is to Raft for 2 days and camp for 1 night. The second available option is to raft and camp the whole week and end up at our main lodge. Both options provide the opportunity for some of the best photo-ops!

Mountain Camp:

Our Mountain Camp places you in the remote Alaskan mountains. August is known for the lavish mountains, full of berries, bears, moose, and caribou! You can also spot the occasional wolf or wolverine! It’s the best way to disconnect from the busy demands of our hectic everyday world. Here one has the ability to reconnect to Alaska and the majestic creation. We provide satellite phones and perform routine flyovers. We make sure to keep you in touch with the main lodge and pilots at all times.

River Boat Trip:

Here in Alaska, we have so many rivers to explore, including the Ho-Ho and the Holitna Rivers. We have the ability to cover 50 miles in a day on our Boat Trips. I personally, have had many years on these rivers, including a trip that took me 70 miles up the Titnuk and another adventure took me 40 miles up the Chulitna River. Alaska offers an experience like no-other. There are many amazing river systems that have been untouched and are ready to be discovered!
